We're award finalists!

Happy 30th birthday detail

It’s been a successful month for the Scotch Whisky Experience team, as the shortlists were announced this week for the 2018 awards run by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA). The Scotch Whisky Experience has been selected as a finalist in two categories: The Marketing Award, and the Rising Star Award.

The Marketing Award category, aimed at visitor attractions in Scotland running a campaign on a specific budget, recognises the organisations who have been both focussed and creative in their campaign from conception to delivery, with tangible results that showcase the skills and ingenuity of their team. The Scotch Whisky Experience has been shortlisted for our 30th anniversary campaign; a series of activities over the course of 2018 that have seen the public, the past and present team, and the wider whisky and tourism industries come together to celebrate three decades of the attraction being open on Edinburgh’s Castlehill.

Rosie Willmot ASVAMarketing Manager Rosie Willmot has been shortlisted for ASVA’s Rising Star Award for 2018. Rosie, who has been with the Scotch Whisky Experience’s marketing department since early 2017, was nominated for her role in consolidating and broadening the attraction’s digital marketing activity, in particular her engagement of the wider team in creating content, and for her work on the China Ready campaign run by Edinburgh Tourism Action Group.

The news follows last week’s announcement of the VisitScotland Thistle Award finalists, in which Retail team member Becca Buckner made the shortlist for the tourism board’s own Rising Star Award, with results due in November. In 2017, the Scotch Whisky Experience's Alison Shearer was the proud winner of the ASVA Rising Star Award.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved this year”, says Julie Trevisan-Hunter, Marketing Director at the Scotch Whisky Experience. “The warmth and enthusiasm of response to our collaborative 30th anniversary campaign from all of our tourism and whisky industry colleagues made creating this campaign a real pleasure.  It has been a fantastic affirmation of how connected our industries are here in Scotland and how well relationships have been established over the past three decades.  Anyone who has worked alongside Rosie will know how richly she deserves to be a finalist for the rising star category. Her innate skills in relationship building and combined creativity and determination have brought our digital channels to life and with an exceptional level of growth and engagement.”

The 2018 ASVA Awards take place at the ASVA Conference on the 8th November, and it’s a special year for the organisation as it also celebrates its 30th anniversary. More information can be found via the ASVA website.
