GETTING HERE
The Scotch Whisky Experience is located in the Old Town of Edinburgh, beside Edinburgh Castle.
Edinburgh is the perfect city to explore by foot and is a walkable destination. The city is built on 7 hills with amazing public transport. You can plan your journey by car or public transport using a journey planning website such as Travel Line Scotland or AA Route Planner simply enter your postcode and ours, which is EH1 2NE.
On foot
We are in the heart of Edinburgh city centre and therefore within easy walking distance of the main transport links and central hotels and attractions.
Train
The nearest railway station is Waverley Station (0.6 miles away). You can explore other things to do in Edinburgh, and book tickets via the Trainline’s website. Train tickets to Edinburgh can also be found via the Railcard website, or via Avanti West Coast.
There are taxi ranks located outside of the railway station at the Market Street exit.
Bus
There are no buses that go directly to the Scotch Whisky Experience however, there are many stops in the surrounding area. For information about city bus ticket options see Lothian Buses. Buses 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 30, 31, 33, 37 and 49 all cross over, and stop on North Bridge; it is then a 0.4 mile walk to the Scotch Whisky Experience.
Tram
Edinburgh Trams offer a tram service from the airport, which stops 0.5 miles from the Scotch Whisky Experience. For information about city tram ticket options see Edinburgh Trams website.
Car
Please note, there is no parking available on the Royal Mile. The nearest car parks are:
- To locate nearby on-street parking, including disabled spaces, please use the Edinburgh City Council parking map. You can also search for on-street and paid parking using the RingGo app.
- Castle Terrace NCP – The postcode is EH1 2EW. You can also find it using the what3words location (///handy.repay.dive). This car park is approximately 0.4 miles from the main entrance of The Scotch Whisky Experience. Please check current prices and view the location map in advance.
- Q-Park Quartermile – The postcode is EH3 9GF and is around 0.6 miles from The Scotch Whisky Experience. Further details are available online here.
- If you are driving an electric vehicle, you can find nearby charging points via ChargePlace Scotland.

Please note that Edinburgh city centre operates a Low Emission Zone (LEZ). To view the boundary and check whether your vehicle complies, visit the Edinburgh City Council website.
Park and Ride facilities are also available at Ingliston, Hermiston, Straiton, Sheriffhall, Wallyford, Newcraighall and Ferrytoll. Further information can be found here.
Cycle
Edinburgh has many cycle lanes within the city centre, unfortunately we do not have bike racks or bike storage for use on-site, but Johnstone Terrace behind our building has plenty of railings (at your own risk!). The nearest secure storage is at Waverley train station (0.6m away) where there are 2-tier racks. If you would like to hire a bike to get around the city, then you can find out more from You-well. There are a few different places you can hire from across the city, at a range of prices.
Coach
Castle Terrace provides designated coach drop-off and pick-up bays, which are accessible Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 6.30pm, and Sunday from 12.30pm – 6.30pm, with a maximum 30-minute stay. Long term parking for coaches can be found on Regent Road.
