We are here to inspire a global passion for Scotch whisky. We believe that Scotland produces an extraordinary spirit with a deep legacy rooted in our communities. We are driven to help change perceptions, widen knowledge and explore flavours.

We are storytellers who are passionate about connecting with people to share our love of Scotch whisky and Scotland. You will find a relaxed and engaging atmosphere surrounding Scotch whisky as we encourage guests to discover something different about themselves through our national drink. Their time with us will provide lasting memories both of Scotch whisky and Scotland that will transport them back here the next time they enjoy a dram.

You will be joining a dynamic, hard-working and enthusiastic team who are committed to creating great memories for our guests. In every context we are inclusive, not exclusive because whisky is for everyone. Our highly flexible team work in a range of departments including guided tours, our specialist whisky shop, whisky bar, ticket office, restaurant and private events.

Full training is given to all of our employees in Scotch whisky and our customer care expectations, although a keen interest and enthusiasm in both is essential. To get a better feel for the team’s enthusiasm, expertise and personality take a look at our blog where articles from our talented “SWEople”* are constantly added.

The Scotch Whisky Experience is open every day of the year (other than Christmas Day) and we operate a shift system in most departments. We therefore look for staff who can be flexible in the days and shifts they can work, and who are happy to work over weekends.

*SWEople – people that work at SWE (Scotch Whisky Experience) as coined by our team. Also occasionally known as Sweeps (SWE peeps)

Q&A with Whisky Blenders

We are very lucky that our staff have the opportunity to meet and learn from our distillers, during their careers at SWE. We are privileged to have Richard Paterson OBE, Master Blender and Sandy Hyslop, Director of Blending and Inventory at Chivas Brothers as non-executive directors on our board. They, along with other key industry personnel, are frequent visitors to us up on Castlehill, we like to think of ourselves as the whisky industry’s Edinburgh “home from home”.
