To celebrate Burns Night, we are offering a Burns Taste of Scotland menu from Tuesday 25th to Sunday 30th January to celebrate our National Bard. At The Scotch Whisky Experience, we celebrate Scotland and its heritage every single day of the year, but for the rest of the world, the 25th January, Burns Night, is the one key date when everything about Scotland and its famous traditions come together. Burns Night is a chance to raise a dram to the famous poet – it is Scotland’s most famous drink after all. Our Burns Taste of Scotland menu includes a taste of haggis, a trio of starters, a trio of mains - all ingredients are in season of course. Your personalised menu will include a taster of Burns poetry. Famous for covering everything from whisky to toothache, and its lyrical, oh-so Scottish witticisms and turns of phrase, even if you think you’ve never heard a Robert Burns poem before, chances are you’ve probably heard a line or two in passing without even realising it!
A specially selected dram, matched with dessert will draw the evening to a close with its own special tale. Why not enjoy our Platinum tour* before dinner and make an evening of it? (Our *Platinum tour does not run on Tuesday and Wednesdays).
Fancy making an Edinburgh night of it? Well we've teamed up with The Real Mary King's Close for an Edinburgh Burns Night.
Start your evening with a guided tour of The Real Mary King's Close. Get to explore the uniquely preserved streets and spaces underneath Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile where you will learn about the city's dark past, listen to a recital of Burns poetry and raise a glass to Scotland's favourite son. You will then be escorted to Amber Restaurant at the top of the Royal Mile, guests will be treated to an exquisite three-course Burns Taste of Scotland menu.

The best meal we have had (twice) in a long time.
We hadn’t visited Edinburgh for over 12 years, so we were a little nervous (and excited) about visiting Amber restaurant, as the last time we came we had one of the best meals that we had ever had. We were not disappointed. We decided to have the Taste of Scotland taster menu. Every mouthful was amazing. Coupled with whiskies from the incredibly comprehensive whisky menu and the evening was a memorable one. We loved it so much that we immediately booked to go again two days later. This restaurant is somewhat of a ‘hidden gem’ this menu was Michelin quality but not Michelin prices.

Second to none
We’ve visited the Amber Bar and Restaurant many times and never had a bad experience. The range of whisky available is incredible and the food is so delicious – coming here is one of the things we look forward to the most when we come up to Edinburgh! But the most wonderful thing of all is the staff who just make the experience second to none. Everyone in the bar and restaurant are so welcoming, knowledgeable and one of the best things of all is that everyone is so enthusiastic! We love all of the awesome recommendations and we learn more every time we visit.
Can't fault the Amber. The food was excellent and the service was to match. The best meal we had during our stay in Edinburgh by a very long shot!

The best place to drink whisky in Edinburgh
The best place to drink whiskey in Edinburgh. There are numerous choices of whiskey from Scotland. A bar tender there is very kind and knowledgeable, and he kindly helped me choosing the right whiskey for me or learning about Scottish whiskey. And the bar is really reasonable! If I come to Edinburgh again, I would definitely go there. Thanks for lovely whiskeys and your advice!
