The Collection Chronicles Part 3

In celebration of Whisky Month, we launched The Collection Chronicles, a series exploring interesting stories about The Diageo Claive Vidiz Scotch Whisky Collection, housed here at The Scotch Whisky Experience. If you visit us and take one of our tours, or private experiences, you will be lucky enough to see The Collection first-hand. Make sure you look out for some of the bottles we have highlight in this series.

For a bit of backstory: In the 1970s, Claive Vidiz, a founding member of the Brazilian Association of Whisky Collectors, began to source and purchase Scotch whisky of varying type, cost, and rarity. Over the span of 35 years, he amassed an impressive 3,384 bottles.

In 2006, The Collection was purchased by Scotch whisky distiller, Diageo with a commitment to preserve its legacy and share it with an international audience. It was determined that this would be best achieved by locating it here at The Scotch Whisky Experience in the vibrant heart of Edinburgh.

In part 1 and 2 we investigated some of the oldest and unique bottles in The Collection. In this final entry, we will be sharing details on our bespoke experiences available to book in this magical room!

Private Dining

Here at the Scotch Whisky Experience, we offer a dining experience like no other. The Amber glow of liquid gold and twinkling crystal lights surround you as you enter The Diageo Claive Vidiz Scotch Whisky Collection.

Upon arrival, you will be inspired by your own private whisky tour, which will prepare your palate, awaken your senses and whet your appetite for what’s to come. A pre-dinner whisky cocktail will be a special start to your evening with us.

Our team will create a luxury five course menu, showcasing the best of seasonal ingredients. We’ll also recommend a special dram to match your dessert or cheese course.

Private Whisky Tastings

We have some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people in our tasting team who will bring the rich and fascinating world of Scotch whisky to life. From novice to connoisseur, foodie to culture vulture, there is a perfect tasting for you to choose.

You will be welcomed by your whisky expert in one of our beautiful private rooms, with The Collection included (subject to availability). A sensory perception quiz will be followed by a guided tasting where you will learn the five important stages of appreciating whisky.
