Our close links with the industry mean that often, you’ll find these bottlings in just a few outlets across the country. Don’t forget, we can ship anywhere in the UK, so even if you’re not in Edinburgh you can take advantage of some of these incredible bottles.
We’ve rounded up a classic selection of 1970s vintages that would make the perfect addition to any collection, or an amazing gift for someone special.
Glenfiddich Rare Collection, 1978
A 38 Year Old Glenfiddich single malt from one single American oak hogshead cask. It was distilled on 25 September 1978 and was laid down to mature for over 38 years. The whisky was selected by Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich’s current Malt Master, for its quality and character. The Single Cask release means that only 159 bottles of this unique liquid are available.

This stunning, single cask release from Benromach has been matured in a refill American oak hogshead and is limited to a run of 162 bottles, with only 56 bottles originally available in the UK.
Tasting notes include succulent fruits, with white pepper, cocoa and hints of tobacco.
Glenfarclas 40 year old, 1976
The sixth and final release in the Family Collector Series from Glenfarclas. Honouring George S. Grant, the 6th generation of Grants at Glenfarclas, this forty year old has been matured in the finest sherry casks and is limited to just 1,500 bottles – so limited in fact that tasting notes have not been made available for this dram.

Dalmore Constellation, 1971
The Constellation Collection is Dalmore’s series of rare single malt whisky vintages that were distilled in their Highland distillery between 1964 and 1992. The 1971 uses Specially selected wood drawn from the Ozark Range of Missouri, 'fired' to expose natural caramelised wood sugars and vanilla.
BenRiach Single Cask number 7028, 1975
The oldest single cask release from the Speyside distillery BenRiach, this single malt 1975 #7028 has been matured in a Sherry Butt, and just 511 bottles were made available worldwide. Flavour profiles include plum skins and dark raisins held together by a robust peat reek, with notes of oak and leather on the finish.
Ledaig 40 year old, 1972
The oldest and rarest Ledaig ever released, the 42 year old single malt was distilled at Tobermory - the only distillery on the island of Mull, and amongst the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. The name Dùsgadh means ‘awakening’ in Scot’s Gaelic. This edition comes with a copper memento that entitles the holder to a bottle of the Ledaig 10 year old release in 2024.
Port Ellen 37 year old, 1978
The Islay distillery of Port Ellen ceased production in 1983 and its releases have since become rare and highly sought after. The 37 year old vintage is no different, with just 2,940 individually numbered bottles available worldwide.
