Loïs Gunn

From her studio in Margate, Loïs works in stoneware clay and precious metals, often bringing ceramics and metalwork together to create meaningful and intriguing pieces. Loïs’ pieces often feature thrown and sculpted elements demonstrating an intuitive and deep connection with the medium. Her creations reflect her passions – recycled glass, the ocean, spirituality and ancient and modern traditions. Silversmithing and jewellery making has always been of great interest to Loïs and she discovered ceramics when she first went to @clayspacestudios in 2014 and started more regularly working on pottery in 2020. Loïs gave up her teaching career working with children with severe SEN in late 2021 to make this her full time job, and says it is now a dream come true to be working professionally in ceramics.

She took part in, and won Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down in 2023, judged by master Potters Rich Miller and Keith Brymmer Jones and since then has been creating and selling ceramics and jewellery through her website, with collections recently selling out in minutes.

Here at The Scotch Whisky Experience we are proud stockists of earrings designed by Loïs, which are handmade using a recycled whisky bottle, porcelain and sterling silver.

The whisky bottle was supplied by ourselves and beautifully repurposed to create these unique earrings which can be found in our on-site shop on the Royal Mile. Our staff, and our customers love them!
