Pronounced: Old POOLT-nay

Meaning: Named after Sir William Pulteney, head of the British Fisheries Commission, and the man responsible for transforming Wick into the herring capital of the world.

Our Interesting Fact;  Pulteney Distillery one of the most northerly on the mainland and lies 3⁰ further north than Moscow.

Eco and sustainability One of whisky’s eco pioneers, Pulteney Distillery collaborated on one of the UK’s first ‘District Heating Schemes’ at its home in Wick on Scotland’s far northerly coast. As a result, renewable steam – rather than heavy fuel – now powers much of Old Pulteney’s production, as well as providing power to homes and public buildings in the town.
