Set in the heart of historic Edinburgh, nestled between Edinburgh Castle and The Witchery, we pride ourselves in distilling the essential ingredients for your perfect day. Our highly experienced hospitality and events team will look after you throughout the planning and execution stages of the biggest and best day of your lives. Whether you are looking for a laid-back restaurant vibe, or want to celebrate in ultimate style, we will ensure your day is just how you’ve always planned it to be. Just a short walk up the cobbles of Castlehill at the top of the Royal Mile from the Registry office, we have a number of packages available, starting from just £30pp up to £120pp.
If you are looking for a unique wedding venue in Edinburgh, with quality food as a real focus, then you have found it! The Scotch Whisky Experience has been welcoming guests for over 30 years, and Amber Restaurant for over 20 years; our experience in both excellence and 5-star service is second to none. Our in-house team of chefs create sumptuous dishes from Scotland’s plentiful larder. The exceptional produce of our country’s hills, glens, lochs and seas comes directly to our chefs in the city, to reward guests with tastes that will linger in the mind long after they have left the palate. And if you are looking for a whisky tour or whisky tasting pre or post dinner as part of your day, then of course we can arrange that too! Although not a working whisky distillery, we are a whisky visitor attraction, and it is our mission to make the world fall in love with Scotch Whisky! With a number of different packages available in different locations within our building, we hope you will find an option suitable for you.
Amber Restaurant Package
If you are looking for a relaxed, laid back feeling to your wedding day, then having your reception within our Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar may be for you. Your guests will be seated at tables within our restaurant where you can enjoy the ambience of a normal restaurant service. Within the restaurant we can accommodate just the two of you, up to a maximum of 64 guests.
We have a number of lunch or dinner options available to you for your wedding reception:
- Arrival drink at your table, or at our whisky bar (dependent on current restrictions) choose from either a prosecco or a dram of Scotch whisky.
- Lunch or dinner made on-site by our Amber Restaurant team of chefs, using our quality Scottish suppliers.
- Coffee served after your meal
- Bar open throughout to order additional drinks (with table service)
Lunch: A 2 course lunch is priced at £30, or a 3 course at £35
Dinner: A 2 course dinner is priced at £40, or a 3 course at £45

Whisky Bond Package
The Whisky Bond has a rustic feel, with stone walls adorned with whisky barrel artwork and large windows and doors providing a light and airy feeling. With direct access to Johnston Terrace, this is the perfect private space for your wedding reception.
Our Whisky Bond wedding package includes:
- Drinks package – arrival drink, ½ bottle of red or white wine and a prosecco for the toast for every guest.
- 3 course meal, made on-site by our Amber Restaurant team of chefs, using our quality Scottish suppliers
- Coffee and a dram of Scotch whisky
- Banquet tables with linen and flower displays

Castlehill Package
Our Castlehill Room is a stunning space, mixing both the traditional and contemporary. With bespoke chandeliers, pitched ceiling and skylights as well as a stained-glass window and drinks area, The Castlehill Room will wow your guests. The Castlehill Room can be hired privately just for your reception.
- Drinks package – ½ bottle of red or white wine, ½ bottle of prosecco, ½ bottle of water and a dram of Scotch whisky for every guest.
- Round tables for guests and top table for wedding party
- Linen included
- Small floral vase arrangement included on each table
- 4 course meal made on-site by our Amber Restaurant team of chefs, using our quality Scottish suppliers.
- Coffee and petit fours
Our Castlehill Package is priced at £120pp (minimum number of guests 20 – maximum 80)
Upgrades are available to our Castlehill Package and can include a whisky tasting for all guests, just speak to a member of our team or fill in our enquiry form.
