Whisky Month 2017 at the Scotch Whisky Experience
This month we’re raising a dram to the Art of Blending – the process to which whisky owes its worldwide success and acclaim. Take any Scotch Whisky Experience tour – complete with an exploration of the blending process in our authentic replica 1870s Blender’s Sample Room (which you can read more about here) – to see an exclusive exhibition dedicated to the first ever blended whisky, Usher’s Green Stripe. The bottle is displayed alongside photography and objects from the Diageo archive, as part of our world-famous Diageo Claive Vidiz Whisky Collection.
You can also hone your tastebuds in our Amber Whisky Bar with a specially selected flight of blended Scotch Whiskies, each with their own unique flavour and fascinating story to tell.
The Usher’s Green Stripe display is number 62 in the Edinburgh 101 project – a city-wide exhibition of objects and artefacts from Edinburgh’s rich history. In celebration of 2017 being Edinburgh’s year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, a bespoke website has been created and filled with 101 of Edinburgh’s most intriguing treasures. Visitors are encouraged to sift through the stories online, then get out and visit them at locations across the city.
You can find out more about Usher’s Green Stripe via the Edinburgh 101 website.
